Dear Family and Community Members,
First and foremost we hope you are all healthy and well in these difficult times. Good Swings Happen is thinking of you all and looking forward to practicing and playing the game of golf together!!!
Are golf courses open in our area?
Yes, all golf courses, including The Lakes at El Segundo are open in a limited capacity. The Lakes golf course and driving range are open but the putting green, short game areas and the Lakes Cafe still remain closed.
Are Good Swings Happen programs currently being offered?
Per guidelines we are able to give individual lessons on a 1:1 basis. We are also investigating some virtual options for those of you who are not yet comfortable programming out in the world. We are still waiting for approval to conduct small group classes, leagues and tournaments per county safety guidelines. We will send out updates on the status of all options over the next few weeks.
Will there be summer camps?
Although summer camps are opening up throughout Los Angeles County, it does not appear as though the robust summer camp we have offered over the past 15 years will be allowed to happen. Once we are approved to give lessons in a 4:1 student to teacher ratio, we will look to offer "mini-camps" until school goes back into session. Greater information to follow.
Will you follow safety protocols and procedures?
100% YES!!! We are deeply aware that "how" we connect with your children when the doors do open back up is of utmost importance. We will share out our guidelines, practices and procedures so we are all clear about the role we must play as we get back to some sort of normal.
Is there any update on the TopGolf project at The Lakes?
At this time there is no updated information about whether the TopGolf project will continue as planned, and if so, when construction timetables will occur. We will keep you updated as soon as a project update is made available. The City has indicated that the Lakes will remain open through the end of July.
In the big picture, I strongly believe that many of the lessons we learn in this difficult time will make us stronger in the long run. Certainly more appreciative of those things we typically would take for granted.
Stay safe, stay healthy and please, let's all do our part so that we may get back to some sense of normalcy here soon.
Josh Alpert, Good Swings Happen
